"Foods with high Iodine content, such as shellfish or seaweed, may cause flare-ups of acne."
I was reading my Proactiv, "Your Answer for Acne" Guide, and I found some very interesting information that I thought I should share with you. Page 17 of the guide states that acne is not caused by greasy foods, chocolate, or coffee. However, it does state that foods with a "high iodine content" may contribute to your breakouts.
What exactly does this mean?
It means that there have been studies done that once and for all prove that I am a common-sensed genius. I said it before, and I will say it again; your acne and diet or the foods that you eat, at the minimum, play a slight role that determines whether or not you will get acne, and Proactiv has obviously conducted studies to prove it.
Foods with High Iodine Content:
- Iodized salt
- Sea salt
- Seafood
- Dairy Product - Oh man! I called this one awhile back!
- Egg Yolks
- Bakery products
- Chocolate - Because of the milk it contains.
